Seasonal To-Do List
Winter Organizing Projects
It's tempting to curl up under a blanket but winter is a great time to get projects done. This way you'll be ready to enjoy nicer weather and fun times in the spring.
Winter Project
Organizing Ideas
Seasonal Clutter-Do a post-holiday toy tackle. Sort through toys. Remove those that the child has outgrown. Donate, consign or store away for younger children.
School Days- Sort and file accumulated paperwork. If you have not done so, purchase a file crate or small file cabinet for the kids to use. Set up folders in it by month, for little ones, and by subject for bigger kids. Have them file the papers in the right folder. Kids need to learn that everything has a home, even their paperwork. Why are YOU filing THEIR papers?
Storage- Make sure fall costumes and holiday dresses or outfits are clean. Store away for another child. Or store away to sell next fall. If selling, add a note to your August calendar to take to the consignment store.
Shopping- Winter months are known for their white sales or bedding sales. If your child needs new sheets, comforter or blankets, now is the time to do so and save.
School supplies- Half way through the school year! Time to restock on supplies often needed for homework. Purchase paper, pencils, markers and so forth so everyone is ready for the second half of the year.
Kids' Rooms- It's time for a mid-year deep clean. Accumulated dust and clutter cause seasonal allergies to flair. Move furniture. Dust, vacuum, washing bedding and start the New Year with a clean sweep.
Teachers Don't let the school year end creep up on you with nasty surprises on your child's progress. Take a moment to email, call or see your child's teacher to make sure everything is on track.
SPECIAL DAYS
Valentines- Plan ahead for activities and purchase cards to exchange.
St. Patrick's- Kids need reminding how lucky we are to have them in our lives. Write a St. Patrick's Day note, attach it to a small treat, like a candy bar, and leave it by their breakfast plate on March 17.
Foul Weather Days Stock up on the fixings for their favorite soup. Toss in some cookie mix. Pick up a book that you can read to them and a movie they have not seen. Tuck it all away to pull out on a no-school day. Let everyone stay in their pajamas all day and create wonderful memories.
